Whoops, They Did It Again Again Again

Another explosion at an ammunition depot in Russia:

The explosion was the result of a safety breach which occurred during ammunition stacking in a small town of Mulino, an Army source reported.

A safety breach?  And the first clue was?

I’ve often written that the Russian military has a huge software problem: these repeated ammunition handling disasters are a particularly graphic example of that.  Untrained, unmotivated conscripts supervised-or not-by unmotivated and unprofessional officers are accidents waiting to happen.  And the wait isn’t long.  Yet Putin wants to spend huge sums on hardware.  The mind boggles.

  1. I always wonder if they’re selling stuff on the black market, and “accidentally” blow some of it up to keep the loss from looking too obvious.

  3. @NinaIvanovna-Yes. I agree. I’ve suggested that in earlier posts I wrote on the subject.
