The Immaculate Conception
Illinois Governor Ron Blagojevich has been indicted for attempting to sell off an appointment to replace Obama in the Senate. This is a late development, as it was widely rumored that Blago was to be indicted for some garden variety pay-to-play scandal. Yawn. That’s probably more holiday joy yet to come for good ol’ Ron.
I grew up in Chicago, and am rather jaded by the rampant corruption in the city and the state of Illinois. After all, with the Blagojevich indictment it is almost certain that 4 out of the state’s last 8 governors have done or will do time in Club Fed. New state motto: “Illinois–we’re here to make Louisiana look good!”
Blagojevich was a made man in the Chicago machine. He took over Dan Rostenkowski’s House seat two years after Rosty went to the slammer. (Anybody see a pattern here?) Then he was Daley’s pick to become the governor. The entire Daley administration is under investigation, it seems.
Which raises an interesting question. Are we really supposed to believe that seemingly alone, out of all of the politicians in Chicago, Barack Obama operated in that sewer for over a dozen years, only to ascend unsullied, uncompromised, Christ-like, as pure as the driven snow, to redeem the nation?
I guess it’s possible. Unlikely, but possible.
The sad part is that just like with Obama’s relationship with Bill Ayers and ACORN the liberal agenda driven media who annointed Obama aren’t going to linger on his relationship with Blagojevich. Anyone that has such a meteoric rise in Chicago politics like Obama most likely doesn’t have clean hands.
There are lots of unanswered questions as Byron York points out along with why Fitzgerald acted now:

I think Obama coupled with our present Congress is the start of a serious Age of Corruption here.
It sickens me to think of the DOJ shifting into the Obama administration’s hands.
