It Didn’t Blow Up This Time
News reports out of Russia state that the most recent test launch of the Bulava SLBM was a success.
Let’s see if they can make it two in a row.
This is a big deal, though, because more failures would put the program in jeopardy of cancellation, or at least a complete makeover. This, in turn, would make the most modern Russian boomer fleet units useless, because their tubes are designed specially for the Bulava, and Russia’s other SLBM (the liquid fueled Sineva) will not fit in the new subs’ missile tubes.
